The 400 ml spray can has become an iconic tool used by street artists around the world to create quirky and compelling street art. On my routine visit to the Google Art Project this morning, I discovered a playful and inventive exhibition of the spray can itself as an art object.
The accompanying description for the gallery of 400 works says:
“400 street artists around the world have responded to the call made by Gautier Jourdain constitute a unique collection. They all made a lot of imagination to realize their 400ML bomb, that they use every day for their work on the street.” If the language reads a bit odd, that is because I have used Google Translator to translate it from French.
The main motivation behind the effort is to promote urban art.To those of you who are interested in something marvelously eccentric, I strongly recommend this collection here. That a spray can can itself become a carrier of urban art is an inventive thought.
